Efficacy Testing
Aging and Wrinkles
Dermatological assessment
Clinical assessment of the main signs of aging including wrinkles is carried out by an experienced dermatologist. This data can be used to support the claims for the reduction of wrinkles or improvement of the signs of aging.
- 30 to 50 subjects
- Four to six weeks use of product at least, dependent on product
- Dermatological assessment before and after product use
- Clinical scoring of wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, skin texture and elasticity
Photography (Facial)
Standardised photographs can be taken using digital cameras. This allows before and after comparisons to be made. Photographs can be used to support other forms of data generated in a clinical trial.
Skin Firmness (Elastic properties)
The firmness of the skin can be determined using a Cutometer (Courage & Khazaka). The Cutometer measures standard elastic parameters of the skin. This data can be used to support the claim of firming of the skin.
- 30 to 50 subjects
- Four to six weeks use of product at least, dependent on product
- Single use of the product or two to six weeks use of product
- Cutometer measurements before and after product use
Age Spots
Age spots are common on the back of the hand with advancing age and are due to sun exposure. An increase in leisure time and more holidays abroad mean that this problem is occurring earlier in life. The effect of skin lightening products on age spots can be assessed clinically by a dermatologist.
- 30 to 50 subjects
- Two to six weeks use of product or longer depending on product type
- Clinical assessment before and after product use
