No Tears Claim

The ‘No Tears Claim’ can be supported by studies carried out under the supervision of an ophthalmologist. Dilutions of test products are instilled into the eyes of subjects under carefully controlled conditions and comparisons made with market leaders.

• Normally 24 subjects
• Test product and control compared in left eye/right eye comparison
• Increasing concentration instilled into the eyes and changes monitored by ophthalmologist
• Favourable comparison with marketed product enable the claim of ‘No Tears’

Eye Cosmetic Studies (Ophthalmologically Tested)

Mascara and eye cosmetic safety and acceptability can be investigated in studies carried out under the supervision of an ophthalmologist and/or a dermatologist. Products are used initially under direct supervision and this is followed by a period of use at home. Any adverse reactions are recorded.

• Normally 20 - 30 subjects
• Single product use per subject (cross over designs possible for multiple product comparisons)
• Changes monitored by ophthalmologist and/or dermatologist
