Testing Treatments For Common Skin Problems

Dermatological assessments of treatments for common skin problems including acne, warts, skin infections, dry skin and minor injuries such as cuts and grazes are performed quickly and efficiently. Suitable protocols can be developed for all regulatory categories.

Cutest has experienced dermatologists to carry out clinical assessments. Our philosophy is to obtain objective evidence of an effect and measure it's magnitude and wherever possible employ suitable instrumentation.

Examples of the types of studies are outlined below.

Facial Spots

Facial spots and mild acne can be assessed by a dermatologist or trained nursing staff. Individual lesion counts (blackheads, whiteheads, etc) can be carried out or global assessment of severity. Standardised photography may also be used. The effect of any treatment can be assessed by before and after measurements.

Dry Skin/Mild Eczema

Clinical assessment of dry skin/mild eczema can be carried out using ranking scales or by global assessment of severity. Objective measurement of dry skin by the Corneometer of D-Squame can be used to support data generated. The effect of any treatment can be assessed by before and after clinical assessments and measurements.

Athletes Foot

Clinical assessment of athletes’ foot (superficial fungal infection) can be carried out using ranking scales or by global assessment of severity. Skin surface biopsies once stained, show presence of fungal elements determined microscopically. The effect of any treatment can be assessed by before and after clinical assessments and skin surface biopsy assessment.

Warts

Clinical assessment can be carried out using ranking scales or by global assessment of severity. The diameter or volume of the wart can be measured and used as an indicator of product effectiveness.

Oily Skin

Oily skin can be assessed by a dermatologist or trained nursing staff. Alternatively objective data can be generated using the Sebumeter (Courage & Khazaka) and Sebutape (CuDerm). The effect of any treatment can be assessed by before and after clinical assessments and Sebumeter or Sebutape.
